Q: Do I need to dry the cakes first before I place them around my trees? A: No, you do not need to let them dry first. That is the beauty of this mix. Just scoop and place around the containers 'after' you water. You do not want to water right after you put them on. Q: I tried to make cakes out of the fertilizer but the mix seems to be to wet and they will not hold together very well. What should I do? A: Allow the mix to sit longer until it is the consistency of a cookie dough. The longer it sits the better the organic binder in it will hold the cakes together. Q: I mixed up a batch of the fertilizer but I was not able to get back to it the following day to make the cakes. The mix is to dry to work now. Can I add more water? A: Yes, you can add a little more water to bring it back to a cookie dough texture with out affecting the end results. Q: How many fertilizer cakes do you get out of a 5 lb bag? A: Using a 1 1/2 inch cookie scoop (with a release on it) you should yield about 180 - 185 cakes with the Summer Mix and 150 to 155 with the Autumn Mix. Q: How long can I store unused fertilizer cakes for? A: As long as they have dried completely, you can store them for several years.
